Full lashes is definitely the look everyone (including myself) seems to be trying to achieve and both CoverGirl Full Lash Bloom and Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara claim to give you this look. With two mascaras coming out around the same time with very similar claims, I thought what a great opportunity to do a full review on both for you.

Maybelline Claims "A sensational full fan effect. Our first patented fanning brush with 10 layers of bristles reveals a full flourish of lashes. Liquid Ink formula coats from all sides."

Covergirl Claims "With Full Lash Bloom Mascara, get exceptional lash fullness that’s soft - even to the touch. With our new petal-shaped brush and mousse formula with natural beeswax, lashes are never stiff or brittle. Perfect for everyday wear, Full Lash Bloom Mascara is also safe for contact lens wearers and is ophthalmologically tested."

Right away, both mascaras come with plastic bristle wands. Covergirl's is pretty standard nothing really new and I'm not really understanding what they mean by "petal-shaped". Maybelline's wand is something a little different, as you can see below it is curved with smaller bristles on one side and larger ones on the other.

One thing that you can also probably see from the photo above, is the formulas are very different. The mascara formula is also one of the differences in claims. Covergirls formula is much lighter which feels very nice on the lashes, I 100% agree with their claim that it "never feels stiff or brittle." It is also very buildable without being clumpy or heavy, does not flake off and really holds a curl. I am really loving this formula and another added bonus, it washes off really easily. Maybellines formula is pretty much the complete opposite. It is very liquidy but also heavy at the same time. Maybelline does claim to give you a " Liquid Ink formula", which is completely accurate, but I personally do no like this formula at all. It takes forever to dry, clumps, and ounce dry flakes off. It also does not wash off very easily, even after taking it off at the end of the night I still woke up the next day with some raccoon eyes.

Here are my pro's and con's for both mascaras.

Covergirl Pro's

  • Never stiff or Brittle

  • Holds a curl

  • Buildable

  • Never Clumpy

  • Nice light formula

  • Hugs every lash giving a fuller appearance

Covergirl Con's

  • The brush isn't anything special

Maybelline Pro's

  • The brush is great

  • Nice very pigmented color

  • Buildable

Maybelline Con's

  • To liquidy

  • Heavy

  • Does not hold a curl

  • Flakes

  • Clumps

  • Doesn't truly make your lashes look fuller

Overall Covergirls Full Lash Bloom is the winner for me. However please keep in mind that what I like and what works for me is not necessarly going to be the same for you, and I would love to hear your opinions and expereiances.
